Etisalat confirms 4G LTE-Capable iPhone 5 coming later This Year

It might have been completely unintentional but thanks to their press release it is now pretty clear that a new iPhone is coming out this year. Etisalat (UAE telecom company) today confirmed the release of 4G LTE-Capable iPhone 5. They are in the final stage of trials on the advanced LTE network and will be able to commercially launch the service in the third quarter of this year. It is scheduled to start distributing the communication devices to make the system ready for up to 150 mbps (megabits per second) download speed.

Ali Al Ahmad, Chief Corporate Communication Officer at Etisalat went as far as saying that there would be an iPhone 5 with LTE capabilities by the end of this year, as Etisalat rolls out 4G in more areas:

“Yes, we are in talks with most smartphone manufacturers including Apple on the rollout of the 4G handset, iPhone 5 later this year. As the first telecom organisation to roll out the 4G network, LTE, in the Middle East, we have already started talking to them for the handsets and chipsets in them.”

How will it look like ?

So far there have only been speculations as there has been no official comment from Apple regarding the iPhone 4G/5. Here is an alleged leaked picture of the device’s front plate point to a nearly identical casing, which is in line with other rumors that point to a small update. OS-wise, we’ll likely see a slightly improved version of iOS 5, with features that won’t be available on any older handsets, such as the iPhone 4.
