Touch screen smart phones can be used to diagnose disease?

South Korean scientists have developed new cell-phone technology designed to diagnose disease. A team at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology says that when its technology is commercialized, it will revolutionize diagnostic medicine around the world.

Everyone will agree that tablets are the new mobile personal computers. No one really wants to lug around a bulky laptop, no matter how small they might make them (a.k.a netbooks). Smart phones can pretty much do all the work as well but small screen size really gets in the way. Using a tablet is a lot easier and more convenient, with it’s quick boot up time and dedicated apps, you are not only able to work with ease but also enjoy it.

With so many tablets out there, it becomes really hard to choose which one you want to buy. Factors behind buying a tablet are it’s cost, hardware and the OS on it. Personally I am a huge fan of the android OS and which company to trust better than Samsung themselves. They have already proved themselves with the Samsung galaxy phones, now they are launching their Tablet version of their Galaxy series.

Samsung Galaxy Tab

Screen – Weighing in at 565g, and a fraction of a millimetre thinner than the already popular iPad2, Samsung Galaxy Tab feels sturdy and warm to the touch (having used it of course). It features a multitouch 1,200 x 800 LCD panel (10.1″ Widescreen), based on Samsung’s Super PLS technology, it’s as bright and colourful as you could ask for, offering excellent viewing angles and an arresting maximum brightness of 492cd/m² with a punchy contrast ratio of 600:1

Hardware – Underneath the screen it spots a 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor and a 1 GB RAM. The usual standard features such as camera and Wireless connectivity (wifi/3G) are included as well. What I really like about this tablet is however it is battery life. It can play video for up to 9 hours while it can play music for up to 72 hours on a fully charged battery. That is quite a lot considering the main issue with laptops is the battery life. Operating System - As mentioned earlier, the tablet features the Android OS. With it’s increasing popularity and increasing numbers of apps, android is becoming the next best thing for a smartphone/tablet. Dedicated apps for social networks, blogging, communication and of course an amazing web browser makes this tablet a joy to use.

Why would anyone use a Tablet ?

As I stated earlier, tablets are getting popular day by day. The reason behind is that they are really easy to use. I am a blogger who writes a lot for different websites. Am also a University student so I need to stay connected on move while in uni so I can download new lectures, look up information etc etc. Laptop is not only heavy, but coupled with its slow booting OS and a really horrible battery life, it becomes more of a nuisance rather than being useful. My smartphone (iPhone) can to an extent do all this but it is really hard to write a proper blogpost through such a small screen, especially when it includes pictures and videos. Multi tasking while a lecture is open becomes really hard as well.

A tablet is easy to carry around, has a huge battery life, has a big screen which makes it easer to browse as well as type out and with its dedicated wordpress app, blogging becomes a breeze.

So what is better, tablet or a laptop/netbook? It has been a hot topic for a debate among the tech enthusiasts and consumers world-wide. Tablet has its own charm, a small nifty device that people can use on the move. With it’s long battery life and easy to use touch screen, it has been a popular choice for people who need to check their emails or browse the internet. But what about those who want to squeeze out that extra bit of power to fuel their power hungry applications (read: desktop applications not phone), they certainly can not survive on a tablet alone. What they need is a laptop, with a Windows (or any other OS) running on it and it’s hardware good enough to handle the load.
