A Recent Example: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2 Normal Version.
Buy online from Steam Networks for 39.99 British Pounds.
Order from Amazon for 29.99 British Pounds.
Day of Launch: 10th Novembor.
First Day Sales: 1 Million in Uk Alone.
First Day Income from UK alone: 30-40 million British Pounds.

How much does it Cost ?
Now dont get me started on other facts. I can only confirm the First Day Sales From the Gaurdian.co.uk. I didnt care to really look up more facts. Its just not this game. Every Game that comes out is usually priced at around that much as well.
How much do they spend on making the game ?
All the High Tech Hardware and Expensive Software License. Upto 3 Years of Effort. 20 Different Teams (Graphic designing, Gameplay designing, Sound effects, etc.). I say 10 Million British Pounds easily for a High End Game ? And then there is the Shelving and Advertising. Another 10 Million ? 20 in total or 30 or make it even 40 Million.

Made that much in 1 day from a 61 Million Population. There is still a 300 Million USA alone and not to forget Canada, Austrailia, Middle East..

I know you already get the idea of what i am trying to say. You would have already got it when you read the title but i thought it would be good enough to actually give some had lined figures. How much has the company earned till now ? 20 Fold ? 30 ? Rockstars already bags a 100 Million Dollars from its previous titles inlcuded a year and they are Half popular as the Inifinty (Call of Duty Title).

Is it Fair ?

Yeah i know they deserve the credit. But that much credit ? Really. Shilling out that much money for a game can easily make some one think twice. Not for few people, but to general public yeah. It is kind of hard. But then according to figures they still do. They buy, they complain as well.
Well they dont have choice. They want to play, and no games are priced at a lower price. Have no option but to buy.

What about the less popular games ?
Yeah i know there are less popular games as well who dont sales as much as the popular titles. But they also are selling at a quite High Price. That just makes half the population just give a big no to buying the game.

Piracy ?
And then there is the online piracy. I bet the game title was downloaded more then sold. Yeah it is illegal, but many people dont have much of a choice. Shelling out that much money for a game title every month or so can be a huge strain.

Why do they have to Over Price the games. They can easily lower price and bag more customers. Many people are willing to buy the game title. They understand the effort and money put in making the game, so they buy it to credit (usually if the game is good). Over Pricing the game can just eaily put of one person. Especially in this hard hit Recession. It applies for the small time game titles as well. Instead of pricing it to high and putting of a large public to buy their game, a lower price means more people are willing to try the game out. Why Over price the game ? Just so the developers can bag another massarti in their already busting mansion garage ?

Wait is there more ?
I wrote this post merely to put this fact and my veiw out. I really dont have much to say. I do not like downloading illegaly. It is wrong. But i can understand why people download. And in this situation i really dont feel bad for them. And anyway the gaming industry would not care. They dont need to. They are linked to the PC hardware/consoles. Nvidia, Intel and Ati drive their expensive hardware sales by mostly selling hardware to people who download these games. Since the people who play the game, more then 50 percent of them have downloaded it illegaly on their computer. Why is the movie/music industry the only one out ther bagging up pircay but the gaming industry doing nothing.

I am pretty avid gamer. I dont like downloading, dont even like downloading it from online stores (I like my CD Case Collection). The online store like steam being over priced is another issue however. But do the games have to be really be so over priced ? Even if they lower the price, they are going to make way more then they orignally do. Lower Price = more Buyers.

I admit it. I am hooked to this game. I loved the old title, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. I thought it was the best game ever. Although i never got to play the multi-player version on the last game, now however i am all about going multi for this game. Unlocking Weapons, getting those ranks, trying to level up to the Prestige Mode, you name it.

And now for the technical stuff, it was the most awaited title since Infinity announced it back in the February 2009. The game was launched with much hype as a movie would have been. No kidding, I was there when it was launched in London, full with a red carpet and people lining up for the game. Many mistook it for a movie premiere. The game hit the two major consoles and PC on the November 10, 2009. And since then it has sky rocketed through it sales racing up millions of dollars for its parent company. But is it really worth it? The attention and glamour it has been getting.It sold 5 million copies on the first day itself, breaking records. But that was the first day. What about now? Is it still up to the mark it set?

Story line too short ?
Apart from many controversies surrounding the game, there have been a few other let downs as well. Many people complained the game story line was too short. I too thought that the story line was a bit short as well but i wouldn’t complain about it because the story line itself was amazing. People are still complaining to this date that there are no Dedicated servers for PC version of the game. This frankly, by my experience, sucks big time.

Dedicated Server Explained. Are they important ?
I have been playing Counter Strike 1.6 for years and i know how important the dedicated servers are. Most of my steam account friends, i barely know any of them. Never met them, let alone even know their names. But we were tight. Counter Strike buddies playing matches together on a private server. We all met each other on different CS Servers. Dedicated Servers where you know who else plays in that server. Not a connect to some random server with random people, play for some time and again end up connecting of to a random server. I have not met a Single person through Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2.
A funny fact. My flat mate bought Call of duty for the first time with me. It was his first online game. And he currently has just one Steam buddy, me. Sad.
The fact is you need dedicated servers for a game to last. People are not just going to play randomly. They will want to make clans. Not just friends getting along and making clans but people they play with on servers.

End Result.
Well was the game really up to it? Well as far as i am concerned, it is. But for the time being, I have this feeling this game won’t last long. There are many other games out there, with good multiplayer options. Sooner or later the people will just move on to them. If Infinity wants to keep people loyal to the game, they will have to try a bit harder, starting with the dedicated servers.

As for now, i will get back to enjoy the game. Multi player of course, till i get bored. And trust me i will, sooner or later because i have no way to meet people. No clans, No scrim and i can’t be really bothered to find forums and organize into teams.

Modern Warfare 2: Multiplayer Gameplay (Capture The Flag)

Yeah same what i thought. Amazing. But make you wonder, if this this is real or not. Having doubts that it is more of a planned thing.
