BBC iPlayer – Want to watch BBC live on your iPhone/iPad? BBC have just updated their previous iPlayer app for iOS devices. Now not only can you watch previous programmes but you can also live stream all national television broadcasts as well as radio networks.

The best thing about this is that it allows 3G streaming while you are on the move. Make sure you have a good data plan before you try it out on your mobile network.

Okay by now all of you know about Google+, the new social networking site set out to rival Facebook (and Myspace if it still exists). So far the screen shots show it to be quite simliar to Facebook with addition of new feature called “circles”. The design is pretty simple and uptil now, all the page rendering have been pretty quick compared to Facebook (read below for how to make Facebook faster).

As always with certain Google’s product, this social network site is currently invitation only. The invitations ran out in the first 6 hours causing Google to suspend the enlisting more invitations. The only way for now to get on it is by an email invitation by an existing user. I have managed to get on the Google+ network and I thought about giving an invitation away for free

Google + Invitation

Yup free. No strings attached. I’ve seen some people sell invites on ebay and so on for as low as 99 cents to as high as 18 US dollars. I think that is ridiculous. The social network will be open to general public anyway in a few days. Why waste that bit of cash just to get on early? To get bragging right perhaps.

I personally think that invitation system is bad for Google’s launch. Only a few people will manage to get online and when they finally online, they will realize that they do not have any friends online. Thus ruining the whole “social” experience for them. What use is to be on a social network when none of your friends are on it, or will be on it for next couple of weeks.

Anyhow back to invitation. I will be making my account soon and then I shall randomly pick few people (not sure how many invites I get atm but they are going to be more than 2) half from here and half from my Facebook Page. I have a few more authors contributing to the invitations so expect quite a lot of invitations.

Call it advertising my Facebook page but that is they way I want it No point saving up my invitations as Google+ is expected to go online pretty soon and those ununsed invitations will be a waste. Disk2vhd (pictured above)
Need an easy way to convert a physical machine to a virtual one? Fire up Disk2vhd and create a snapshot of any system running Windows XP or later — including server OSes and x64 builds. Partition structure is retained, and you can even save your VHD to the same drive you’re backing up.

Boot VHD
Windows 7 can also boot those VHD files you create with Disk2vhd, but adding them manually to the BCD is kind of a pain in the butt. Boot VHD takes care of the heavy lifting: browse for your VHD and click create boot from VHD. A command prompt window will appear and the necessary additions will be made for you. Close that window, check the boot drop-down, and verify that your new entry has been created.

Remember, only Vista SP1 and later can be booted this way.

VHDAttach
While Windows 7 can manage VHDs like physical disks, mounting and dismounting them is a bit overcomplicated. You’ve got to open the disk management snap-in, click attach, then browse for your VHD. VHDAttach makes the process as simple as it can get: open the folder where your VHD is located, right-click it, and choose attach (or detach) from the context menu.

XP-More
Creating new VMs and managing their settings is already dead-simple in Windows 7, but duplicating a machine isn’t as straightforward as simple as doing a copy and paste in your Virtual Machines folder. XP-More streamlines things by creating both the .vmcx and .vhd files. The settings and create buttons launch Windows 7′s built-in tools.

If you don’t have the XP Mode or Virtual PC installers, you can download them over at Softpedia without having to go through Microsoft’s validation process.
