How To Install iOS 5 Beta Without Developer Account Or Without Having UDID Registered

If you really need to install iOS 5 beta, here’s a way to get around the activation process. Thanks to Mert Erdir. It has been just a day and iOS 5 has been hacked already, done using a simple backdoor. The method exploits a security flaw in the activation screen.

Warning: While this operation should be simple and inconsequential, we are not responsible for what you do to your iOS device. The following instructions are shared for imformation and educational purposes only.

There is news that iOS 5 can’t be downgraded to 4.3.x once upgraded on iPhone 4, 3GS, and 3G/CDMA iPads. Proceed at your own risk.

Here is a two step method to do it. You need to do both steps.

Step 1

Downloading and installing the iOS 5
1. Download the iOS 5 IPSW file. I will not be linking it here, you can easily find them via Google on  hosted sites/torrents.
2. Update your iPhone using iTunes. To do this, connect your iPhone to your computer, click on the Check for Update button with the Option (Mac) or Shift (PC) key pressed. Select the iOS 5 IPSW file from the place you downloaded it to.
3. Wait until it upgrades. A new activation screen will appear.

Step 2

Activating iOS 5
1. Triple click the home button. This will activate the Voice Over.
2. Triple click the home button and Emergency Call will appear.
3. Click on Emergency Call and, while it’s switching, swipe with your three fingers down.
4. The Notification Center will appear!
5. Click on the Weather widget. The Weather app will load.
6. Click on the home button to exit to the iPhone’s springboard.

Your phone is activated and fully operative now. Enjoy

Using Policy Editor Local Group

Note: This method uses Group Policy Editor which is not available in versions of Windows Home.

first type gpedit.msc in the Search box on the Start menu.

When Group Policy Editor opens, navigate to User Configuration \ Administrative Templates and select System. Under Setting in the right pane double-click Prevent access to registry editing tools.

Select the radio button next to Enabled, click OK, then close out of Group Policy Editor.

Now if a user tries to access the Registry…

They will get the following message advising they cannot access it.

Using Registry Enabler & Disabler 3

If you’re using Home or Starter version of Windows 7, you can use a neat utility called Registry Enabler & Disabler (link below). This app works on XP and Vista as well.

There is no installation involved so you can run it from a flash drive, disable the registry, then take the flash drive with you while a the user is on the machine.

Again, if the user tries to access the Registry they will get the following error…

Using one of these options will stop users from gaining access to the Registry or running any registry hacks. Of course if you have a shared computer, you may want to set up other users with a Standard Account, as they won’t be able to make changes to the Registry anyway.

Anyone who has used extension in Firefox knows CoolPreviews wonderful preview window can be. Now you can get the same kind of functionality in Chrome with extension ezLinkPreview.

Note: Extension does not work on websites containing Buster “framework” code (the URL navigate occur).

Before

Normally, if you want to have a better appearance to a particular Web page the only option you have is to move forward and open a new tab or window. But it would certainly be nice to be able to take a quick “preview” before hand …

After

Once you have completed the installation of any extension is ready to go … just refresh the page open before installation and enjoy the goodness of preview. when you place your mouse near any link you will notice a small “Preview Button” appears with the letters “EZ” inside.

Click the Preview button “to open the popup window. Now you can get a very good idea of whether the page is worth visiting or not.

Here’s a closer look at the popup window. Note that you can see the URL of the Web page and access a practical set of buttons on the right side (open a new tab, Pine keep open cover, and close). You can even resize the window as you want to better meet your needs (you can actually enter one of the four corners to resize the popup window).

It is also possible to open a preview window “in the popup window … you can see the” Preview Button “here …

If you have maximized Chrome, you can enjoy using a large preview window size. “Now, how nice!

File this one under “why didn’t I think of that.” Blogger and software engineer Abhishek Bhatnagar has posted a simple, clever way to pin multiple folders to your Windows 7 taskbar (or Superbar). Yes, you can already pin as many as you want to the Explorer icon, but it’s still nice to be able to have single-click access to your most-used folders.

Abhishek’s exact directions didn’t work for me, so here’s how I did it.

The first step is to make sure you have the hide extensions for known file types option unchecked. Click the windows button and type folder into the search box, the click folder options when it appears (it’s also in Control Panel). You can also open the run box and paste this command: rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Options_RunDLL 0

Click the view tab and you should find the hide option at the bottom of the Advanced Settings pane. Uncheck it and click ok.

Now right-click on your desktop and choose new, then choose text document. Name it whatever you like, but end with .exe (e.g. Screencaps.exe). This is the first part of the trick which fools Windows into letting you pin multiple folders.

Next, right click your freshly-renamed file and choose pin to taskbar. Once your icon appears there, hold down the shift key on your keyboard, right click the icon, and choose properties. A regular right-click may not give you the properties option– it might only display the name you entered and unpin from taskbar.

Once the properties screen is displayed, change the target to the full path to your folder — mine is going to point to C:\Users\Lee\My Pictures\Screencaps. I also changed the start in field to the same path. After you’ve changed the target, it’s OK to delete the file you created from your desktop.

All that’s left is to pick a better icon than the default Windows .EXE. Click the change icon button and pick something from imageres.dll (Windows will probably open that by default).

You can find more icons in %SystemRoot%\System32\Shell32.dll and %SystemRoot\System32\DDORes.dll (hardware icons) — or you can always download something from your favorite icon site if you want. Your icon may not change instantly. If it doesn’t, simply right-click your taskbar, choose task manager, click processes, and end the explorer.exe process. When it restarts, your new icon should appear. You can also log off and log back in if task manager isn’t something you like to mess with.

Repeat as many times as you like until you’ve got all the folders you want on your taskbar. Nice!
